Waterfalls are not only beautiful, but romantic. If you are a kamaina (native) or a new commer you will surely find one of the below waterfalls something to remember. Please be aware that leptosporosis is a common parasite in nearly all rivers and streams in hawaii and you should not go in the water if you have open cuts.
1) Likeke - A cascade nestled below the Pali Lookout. Popular witheco-tours, possible keiki hike, shallow (ankle deep) swimming hole. InBall's "Hikers Guide to O'ahu Revised Edition".
2) Wai'oma'o Stream - In Palolo Valley. Decent swimming hole below first waterfall. Beyond first waterfall is another nice waterfall and a wonderful cascade leading to entrance of Ka'au Crater.
3) Judd - In Nu'uanu Valley off Nu'uanu Pali Drive. Nice swimming hole fed by small waterfall. In Ball's book.
4) Sacred Falls - In Hau'ula. Closed hike. Despite its popularity with tourists and trashiness, nice pool and falls.
5) Lower Lulumahu - Eastern wall of Nu'uanu Valley. Nice falls but shallow swimming hole.
6) Malaekahana - In back of La'ie Town. Nice pool and falls.
7) La'ie - Nice pool and falls. In Ball's book.
8) Kawainui - 7 miles mauka of Hale'iwa Town. No falls to speak of, but the finest swimming hole on O'ahu. In Ball's book.
9) Waiakeakua - In Manoa Valley. Nice pool and falls.
10) Manoa Falls - Very popular with tourists. Nice falls but shallow swimming hole. In Ball's book.
11) Upper Lulumahu (drop down from Konahuanui Trail) - Decent swimming hole and falls.
12) Moole Valley - Western side of Nu'uanu Valley. A series of nicewaterfalls but shallow swimming holes.
13) Moanalua Valley - Decent swimming hole but no falls. In Ball's book.
14) Kalauao - Kalauao Valley above Aiea Heights. Decent swimming hole fed by small falls. Dependant on rain. In Ball's book.
15) Waimalu Ditch - Above Pearlridge. Decent swimming holes but no falls to speak of.
16) Waimano Pool - Above Pacific Palisades. Nice swimming hole and falls but dependant on rain. In Ball's book.
17) Waiawa Valley via Ahern Ditch Trail - Decent swimming holes but no falls to speak of.
18) Wahiawa Hills - Nice swimming hole but no falls. In Ball's book.
19) Kaukonahua Stream - Nice swimming hole but no falls. Mentioned on page 154 of Ball's book.
20) Waikakalaua - Schofield East Range above Wahiawa. Decent swimming hole but no falls.
21) Poamoho Stream - Leeward Ko'olau Range above Helemano (Central O'ahu).Decent swimming holes but no falls.
22) & 23) Kawaiiki/Opae'ula - 7 miles mauka of Hale'iwa Town. Decentswimming holes but no falls. In Ball's book.
24) Pupukea-Kahuku - Brandon Stone reports deep swimming hole and nicewaterfall.
25) Maunawili Falls - Nice swimming hole and waterfall. Popular. In Ball's book.
26) Hamama Falls - In Waihe'e Valley. Nice waterfall but shallow swimminghole.
27) Kuolani-Waianu - In Waiahole Valley. Man-made waterfall and small swimming hole.
28) Waiahole Cooke Pines - Nice pools behind campsite. Waterfall?
29) Kahekili - Above Makaua Valley in Ka'a'awa. Nice waterfall. Dependant on rain.
30) Kahana - Nice swimming holes but no falls and plenty mosquitoes. In Ball's book.
31) Castle (Kaluanui Stream) - Above steep west wall of Punalu'u Valley in Kaluanui Valley.
Accessible from Papali Uka Ridge. Decent swimming holes.Nice falls upstream and downstream from campsites.
