TheBus

The Bus System of Hawaii is a cheap and reliable alternative way to see the island without having to rent a car! Depending on how much you plan to use TheBus it may make sense to purchase the 4-Day Pass for 20$. This gives you unlimited use of TheBus for 4 days. Passes can be purchased at any ABC store scattered all around Waikiki. (abcstores.com)Considering renting would be hundreds of dollars and then adding hotel parking this would be a bargain!

If you are unfamiliar with our route system, please call our Information Office at (808) 848-5555 (daily from 5:30a.m. to 10:00p.m.)

TheBus has been a transportation success ever since the City and County of Honolulu first took over public ownership in 1971. Ridership has grown from 30 million passengers per year to approximately 71 million today. TheBus is now the 20th most utilized transit system in the country and the 13th most utilized bus fleet. TheBus has the lowest cost per passenger mile of any system and one of the lowest cost per boarding passengers in the industry. This is truly noteworthy given that Hawaii is one of the highest cost areas in the country.
